Robot Wins International Marketing Effectiveness Award for Discover UFC Website Design

Robot Creative's design for the Discover UFC website is a Platinum winner in the 2011 Summit International Marketing Effectiveness Award (Summit MEA) competition.

The Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award (Summit MEA) responds to a common need in the advertising sector: to acknowledge the contribution of advertising and the achievement of the advertiser’s business goals. The Summit MEA is unique because it reinforces that the goal of marketing communications is to change, influence or reinforce a target audience's knowledge, attitudes, or beliefs. Using this premise as a basis for its judging criteria, the competition is becoming a true arbiter of marketing communication effectiveness. During the 2011 event, judges analyzed submissions and selected only 9% to receive the top spots.

"We’re excited to be recognized by the Summit International Awards for the Discover UFC website," UFC President Dana White said. "With the help of Robot Creative, we were able to create a strong website that reflects our brand. It’s cool to receive an honor like this."

Web Design for TengoInternet Recognized for Excellence in Communication

ROBOT's excellence in website communication has been recognized by the San Antonio Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) with the presentation of a Bronze Quill Award for the design of TengoInternet’s website. TengoInternet’s solutions allow property managers in the outdoor hospitality industry to provide Internet access to their guests (for free or according to several pay-for-use models).

Tengo’s previous website was not successfully directing traffic and providing information for the distinctly separate needs of property managers and guests. Navigation confusion was widespread, even leading to guests submitting support requests through the contact form intended for property managers. Additionally, all of the messaging on the website referenced “Campground Owners” and “Campers”, which seriously complicated the sales team’s ability to address other potential target audiences such as marinas, hotels, schools and business campuses.

In order to separately address the needs of each audience, ROBOT created four distinct entry points, two for each audience, clearly directing visitors to information that addresses their needs. ROBOT used more general messaging and terminology, such as “Property Managers” as opposed to “Campground Owners”, throughout the website to accommodate a larger range of audiences and to allow for future growth. Tengo reports that this redesign eliminated navigational confusion for their target audiences and reduced incorrectly submitted support requests by 98%.

Robot Wins 3 Bronze Quill Awards

The San Antonio chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, or IABC, held its annual Bronze Quill awards banquet this month to honor companies that convey clear messages in their marketing materials. Professional communicators submit work into several divisions and categories for a chance to receive feedback and recognition.

ROBOT takes pride in producing not only great-looking, but also effective design that accomplishes established goals as shown by measurable results. We demonstrated this effectiveness with 3 Bronze Quill awards this year:

We won!

Last Friday was the third annual H.A.C.E.R. gala banquet sponsored by the city's Housing and Neighborhood Services department. It's meant to celebrate the accomplishments of San Antonio's inner-city corridors. ROBOT worked on rebranding the Southtown area by volunteering design and marketing services.

Other nominee's up for the award were Daisy Tours and I-Print Co.

Lara's Color Theme Featured in Kuler Promotion

Lara recently had one of her color themes included in a nifty deck of color cards that was sent out to an international audience to promote Kuler. Kuler is a color forum and design tool created by Adobe as part of their Adobe Labs, a series of communities developed to create design discussions and collaboration.

The theme "East End Boat Park" is a series of colors that Lara discovered on a trip to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. (See an earlier slideshow from the trip.) In her habit if taking photos of random things with appealing colors, a sliver of a sign that said "East End Boat Park" showed up in the photo and lent a great title to the color theme.

ROBOT Named One of San Antonio's Fastest Growing Companies

ROBOT was named one of San Antonio Business Journal’s Fast Track Growth Companies this year with a compounded average percentage revenue growth of 59.42 percent. We took the #2 ranking spot in the “Under $2 million” in gross revenue category and the overall rank of the 13th fastest growing company in the San Antonio area.
 
Fast Track looks for the following characteristics in order to qualify: companies need to show annual growth over each of the past fiscal years (2004-2006); be independent, public or privately held corporation, proprietorship or partnership with headquarters in the San Antonio area; and show a profit at least two out of the three fiscal years.  The San Antonio Business Journal then uses an outside accounting firm to rank the companies based on percentage of revenue growth from 2004-2006 and places the winners in revenue categories.
